Town of Proctor
Proctor, Vermont

LAG is working with the Town of Proctor and their engineer in transitioning the Town’s water system from a surface water source to a ground water source. In April 2010, LAG permitted, installed, and tested a 12” 130-foot deep naturally developed gravel well source as a replacement for an existing 8” gravel well on the outer reaches of town. The gravel well has significant artesian characteristics with an overflow capacity of 400 gallons per minute (gpm). Short term testing of the well indicates the capability of this source to provide in excess of 750 gpm, which is more than sufficient to provide the Town’s water demand of 350 gpm.

Chimney Hill Owners Association
Wilmington, Vermont

LAG permitted and tested two bedrock well sources for Chimney Hill Owners Association in December 2009 and July 2010. The first source was tested and approved for a yield of 49 gpm. The second source was tested at a rate of 79 gpm, but unfortunately due to limitations of the bedrock aquifer, could only be permitted for 61 gpm. Both water supplies were permitted and tested to provide water to two main sections of the development and to obtain additional water for potential future expansion. Permitting of these two sources involved a 72 hour pump test on the first source, and a step test and 96-hour pump test on the second source.

Cold Regions Research & Engineering Laboratory
Hanover, New Hampshire

LAG works with the Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Lab with maintenance of their gravel well field at their facility. In conjunction with Layne Christensen Company of Dracut, Massachusetts, LAG provides annual well and pump inspections and testing to evaluate well and pump performance in an effort to develop future maintenance schedules for these sources. LAG also provides Cold Regions Research & Engineering Laboratory with gravel well re-development services in order to keep these gravel well sources operating at optimal efficiency and providing sufficient water supply to the laboratory.
